Tinted world

A thousand lives and a thousand emotions...each reel and each post like a ride on a magical carpet, taking me from one location to another, putting me in the shoes of another...from one field of wild flowers to a war torn landscape...from cries of meek lambs to the cries of orphaned babes... It is a carpet that takes me a million miles while I sit stationary in my chair, dealing with whirlpools of emotions ....happy, sad, excited, disgusted, delighted, mesmerised, hopeless and inspired.... The world of social media...the world of reels...

It has put me in the shoes of a Japanese minimalist trying to live as lightly as a feather; a beauty influencer making money from her reels, for her younger sister's medical bills; a body positive diva in her twenties; a weightlifting grandma in her 80s; a cottagecore enthusiast; a cat with a grumpy face; a dog with a shimmy belt around her waist; a gay couple and their love for plants, who lost everything in a wild fire...the before and after pictures, devastating but not without hope; a defiant Eartha Kitt; a motherly Maya Angelou; a wellness guru; and a quirky photographer teaching all the awkward divas how to pose.....

I am not sure if I was meant to know so many people so closely and empathise with them ...the curse and blessings of social media has made an oblivious existence of mine a little more easy to tolerate... And of course then there is a boy band I adore, I watch their reels when my mind feels tired and sore... I come to know of tiny movements against oppression and protection of the world around us and through this tiny screen I open a window to the world ...for better or for worse it let's me experience it in all its glory and galore ...often times I wish to shut this window close but for now I let it stay open and see the world with tinted glasses, for sure.
